Mother's Day 2012 Las Vegas Style

Mother's Day is just around the corning. This is the day where Mothers everywhere get one day to themselves, to be women instead of "Mothers". Now I am not saying being a Mother is a bad thing, just very demanding, most Mothers are the ones that hold the household together, so Mothers deserve a day of relaxation (really a week). I looked far a wide for deals for Mothers here in Las Vegas and couldn't believe that most of the deals I found for Mothers were just for food. Come on Las Vegas, we need to take better care of our Mothers.

Mother's Day in Las Vegas - Spa Treatments

One of the most given gifts for Mothers next to flowers has to be a day at the spa. Relaxation and pampering on someone else's' dime. No one screaming "mommy he took my doll", just piece and quiet.

The Spa at Red Rock offers a couple specials on spa treatments on Mother's Day:

Red Rock ESSENTIALS

  • 50 minute Swedish Massage
  • 50 minute Classic Facial

“ TwoGether” or Mother/Daughter Package

  • A 50 minute Swedish massage
  • (Performed in same treatment room)
  • An 80 minute Top of the Rock Pedicure
  • $260 per person

Relax “TwoGether” and enjoy a Couples Swedish Massage and enjoy side by side, our indulgent “Top of the Rock Pedicure”

Spa Mio at The M Resort has a special for Mother's Day that runs the entire month of May:

No matter what you decide to get or do with your Mother on Mother's Day, make sure you treat her like a Queen. Think about it, she has had to put up with you, she needs a break!!! (Hey just kidding).

Happy Mother's Day to all our Las Vegas Mothers

Better Air Quality In Las Vegas

During a commercial break, a news reporter said the air quality is much better in our valley. Well there is a simple explanation, less construction means less pollution.

I am sure you have seen the DIY Network hit TV show Yard Crashers with former host Ahmed Hassan. If you watch it now, you see a new host and some new advertisers.

I can remember before the Internet when I was looking to purchase my next gadget like a stereo for my car I had to rely on what the salesperson told me, or maybe I read a review in a magazine. Now with just about every shopping site online having custom reviews, do you use these reviews to help you decide on your next purchase?

There are very few people in this world that do not like chocolate. If you are a chocolate aficionado in Las Vegas then you owe it to yourself to stop by the showroom of Jean-Marie Auboine - Chocolatier Confiseur.

We had a chance to get a private tour of his showroom and see how his delectable chocolates are made. We were also given a few samples at the end of the tour, and let me tell you, it is the best chocolate I have ever had. The care and attention to detail is unmatched, it is really difficult to describe in words how good his chocolate is. You have to try it yourself to truly understand his brilliance.

For those of you that don't know Jean-Marie, he is one of the most recognized Executive Pastry Chefs & Chocolatiers in America.  With more than 20 years of industry experience, Master Chocolatier and Executive Pastry Chef Jean Marie Auboine knew by 16 years of age that cooking was his passion. After graduating in 1988 from Lycee Technique Hotelier Quercy at age 18, he served at some of the world’s most esteemed restaurants. He began at Le Louis XV - Alain Ducasse in Monaco, assisting the famed eatery in earning Michelin’s highest honor, Three Stars. Chef Auboine continued his distinguished career at several Michelin-starred restaurants which included One Star Chateau de Mercues in France and Hotel Beau Rivage in Geneva, as well as the highly respected Two Star restaurant-hotel, La Pyramide Vienne in France.

In 2009, Chef Jean-Marie Auboine joined the Bellagio AAA Five Diamond resort as the Executive Pastry Chef. In this role, he oversaw the pastry, dessert and chocolate creations for 19 gourmet and casual dining outlets, room service and catering department. Chef Auboine also speaks fluent English, Spanish, Italian and French, which allowed him to effectively communicate with his team of 70 employees, who expertly produced approximately 15,000 pastries each day.

Auboine not only makes the finest chocolate in Las Vegas, but he even shares his knowledge by offering classes and workshops on how to make these amazing treats.

So if only the best chocolate will do for you, you owe it to yourself to visit his showroom today. It is centrally located at 4780 W Harmon Avenue Suite 1, Las Vegas, NV 89103.

If you can't make the drive Jean-Marie also offers his chocolate on his website. You place the order and he will ship it to you.

The NABShow 2012 is Coming to Las Vegas

The NABShow 2012 is almost upon us. For those of you that are unfamiliar with this conference it is like the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) of video, and this will be our first time attending. CES is great for new gadgets, but it tends to follow trends, so unless a new technology in video is trendy you might not have your video needs fulfilled.

The NABShow on the other hand is nothing but video. Video is so much more a part of everyone's life. Now the phrase "viral video" is almost as common as the Internet itself.

The NABShow not only features the latest video equipment but also Content Management, solutions for storage, retrieval and more. There is the Content Commerce segment people that buy and sell video content. Content Distribution for those looking for new ways to get their videos out to viewers, and finally Content Consumption, how content is consumed.

So if you are in the video industry or were lucky enough to get an invite from someone who is, get ready for one of the most exciting conventions to hit Las Vegas.

We will be tweeting from the show under our web design Twitter handle, @GWDlasvegas if you would like to get up to the minute highlights.

Conferences April 14 – 19, 2012 | Exhibits April 16 – 19
@ Las Vegas Convention Center
