The Beautification of I-215 and Eastern Avenue

Written by  Phyllis Martin del Campo

Since we are in Las Vegas, I would make a significant wager that any driver who has to enter or exit I-215 at Eastern Avenue would much rather have a wider, smoother, well-marked and well-lit roadway than some rather unattractive desert landscape. I do not have an aversion to desert landscaping, some can be quite beautiful, but in my opinion, this is quite lacking in style and color.

The I-215 interchange is one of the worst designs in this town. I realize the money spent on the landscaping was designated for beautification but once in awhile it would be so nice to ask the taxpayers what they need or what is more practical. These on-ramps and off-ramps have been inadequate from day one since Eastern Avenue is basically the only north/south through street connecting Las Vegas to Henderson. They need to be widened, repaved, remarked and better lit. I would say safety and less driver frustration before so-called “beautification.”
