Las Vegas is bursting at the seams with great restaurants. For now we’re going to give you 6 categories and tell you a little something about a really good local restaurant in that category. Let us know what you think of these restaurants, or other great restaurants, or other categories, or how your cat’s doing.
Burger Joints
The hamburger was first seen on a menu in 1826 at Delmonico’s in New York City. It is one of the few truly American foods. Some honorable mentions in this category include: Egg Works, 2490 E. Sunset, Kilroy’s, 1021 S. Buffalo Dr. and Sunshine Café, 1581 N. Decatur Blvd. Charlie’s Down Under and 1950 N. Buffalo Dr. gets the Blue Ribbon though, mainly for the Fat Charlie’s Burger, which will likely kill you before you finish it. Good way to die though.
Sushi! (‘cause we like it raw)
Seems like there’s a sushi place on every block in Las Vegas, and everyone has their favorite. After careful review we decided to go with Sen of Japan at 8480 West Desert Inn. No.F1. Don’t expect a lot of fancy décor when you visit though, they’re basically all about the sushi, and it seems to have paid off.
Italian and Pizza
If you ask 10 people what their favorite food is, 7 or 8 will say Italian. We didn’t actually do any research, those number sound good though. What we did research is where you can get great Italian food off the Strip in Las Vegas. Casa di Amore at 2850 E. Tropicana Ave. Great atmosphere, decent prices, and the food is just amazing.
Steak
My favorite animal is “steak,” I’d eat steak even if it was my pet. If you feel the same way then you’re always looking for another great steakhouse. Try Golden Steer at 308 W. Sahara Ave. They’ve been around for 57 years.
Seafood
“When you fish for love, bait with your heart, not your brain” said Twain. We see what he’s saying, we totally ‘bate to fish all the time ‘cause we love it so much. There are different sorts of fish joints. Hawaiian may be a category of its own, but we have to give Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion at 620 E. Flamingo Rd. a huge round of applause. The overpriced Strip seafood restaurants don’t have a thing on Roy’s, so save a couple hundred bucks and give it a try.
Vegan/Vegetarian
We’re not going to pretend to know the difference between Vegan and Vegetarian, but they should host a death match to see who will live longer. All joking aside there is some good food in this category. You have to find the right place though. Try Veggie Delight at Spring Mt. and Wynn Road (Next to Fashion Show). Their whole menu is at Vegetarian and can be made Vegan… and it actually tastes good!
